I love Christmas I really do. My house is so cheerful during the holidays so it’s always hard this time of year taking down all the Christmas decorations. All the sudden I notice all the dust in the corners and things I want to do to improve my house…even though it’s a rental I still love it like it’s mine. Last night as I was pulling down all the crispy garlands it dawned on me that I hadn’t taken any pictures of my decorations this year at all! So I walked around and snapped a couple of what was left up and presentable. It’s all coming down today 🙂
My bestie did this display of my ironstone in my dining room for me…we hosted my hubby’s company party this year…decorating was frantic but I loved this!
This was the office where this “kids” tree was with nutcrackers everywhere, candy cane lane themed, with red, white, and silver colors….this was the only place still presentable:) I loved the sled!
My shipping tag tree I do every year that I love! This is my daughters Nativity scene I haven’t found a grown up one that I love yet:) I know someday I’m going to look back at these pictures and cringe that I even posted them on my blog:) gotta start somewhere. So that’s the last hurrah until next year….
Now since I did my inventory this am for my milk paint I am feeling like I need to give some away! This giveaway is for one Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint color of choice and one bonding agent.
Here’s the deal you can enter by leaving a comment as to what you would paint and with what color for your first entry. Second entry go to my FB page and “like” my page and leave a separate comment saying you have done so. If you want a third entry share the giveaway on your FB page and leave a separate comment saying you have done so. You must be in the United States or Canada and over the age of 18 to win. The giveaway will end Sunday at 12:00 midnight PST and winner will be chosen by random and posted Monday.
Also check out my upcoming workshops! Details posted here
Happy New Year & Good Luck!!!
Blessings, Gen

I am going to give away my age but as a little girl on our family farm, I remember using a paint called whitewash on our board fences. My dad mixed it up from a powder and at 7 years old I got the job of painting our board fences. Boy did I think I was big stuff doing an important job. Unfortunately, in twenty minutes I had more paint on me then on the fence. It was a wonderful and fun learning experience that I always remember. Milk paint reminds me of the whitewash. As I grew older and became an antique dealer and collector. I began to use milk paint in the 80s. The most popular colors were, red, black , blue and green. Then as the years surpassed, milk paint disappeard. I am so happy to see it making a comeback at my age now. I am so excited to use it again on some of my old antique furniture. The only problem is trying to decide which unusual piece I want to paint first in my 40 x60 barn with a loft that is filled with furniture that I have collected for the past 25 years.
I would choose linen since it reminds me of whitewashing the fence and the wonderful memories painting and being a little girl. Memories that still fill my heart.

Gen, Gen, Gen! A second chance?! You are an angel 🙂
I love how this milk paint looks!
Eventually after I’ve played with this paint a little I am thinking of painting our kitchen cabinets. I’ve always wanted white cabinets but may do the top 1/2 above the counters white & the bottom 1/2 by the oven gray. We’ll see!
For now, I’ll have to decide to practice on either the antique desk in the living room or the antique chest of drawers (currently painted green) under our TV. I love gray so shutter gray may be my color of choice although mustard seed yellow may give our home the pop it needs. Thanks for this chance!
I’ve gotta go see if Justin will let me ‘like’ you on FB for my second entry, HA!

I’ve just read Marian’s book ‘Inspired You’ and I am starting small and painting a table that I have long has ‘issues’ with – just to see if I will love it with a new look – if i play it ‘safe’ I’ll choose Typewriter, but if I manage to scrounge up some courage … Luckett’s green! I think! Her book really spoke to me – and I am inspired to do what I can with what I have. My budget is $0, but I’ve got a birthday coming and paint isn’t too expensive, right?
Heather said:
I’ve just liked you on FB for another chance! Thank you again!
P.S. I have that little wooden sled from when our darling girl was a baby and I *always* use it filled with fresh greens in an old galvanized bucket to decorate by the door at Christmas, but this year instead of Christmas we had a horrible respiratory flu, so decorating was not a priority. It’s nice to see your version – great minds must think alike … at times!

Dear “Gracefully Worn”,
Next week I turn 42 and I’m at a major crossroads in life having survived a job loss, divorce and major back surgery all within the past 18 months. As you mentioned that you did at some point, I too am reawakening & nurturing my creative side and have decided to turn my love of antique furniture, interior design, painting. and all things vintage into a fresh start by starting my own boutique furniture & home decor shop. I have been so inspired and motivated by women such as yourself who manage creative blogs along with all the wonderful artists who share their their amazingly beautiful painted antique furniture pieces!
All of the financial obstacles keep me questioning my willpower, but I keep facing forward and powering through! Of course, supplies are a major expense when starting out so I am asking to be the one you select for the give a way. Any extra assistance would be appreciated. I would be happy with any color for I love them all and it will be used to paint any one of the beautifully selected pieces which I have curated along the way and store in my storage unit & studio with the dream of being able to do this one day! Thank you for taking a moment to read & I also “liked” your page!
